abstract

dynamic assessment according to vygotskys sociocultural theory, states that instruction and assessment are interrelated. using static forms of assessment with second and foreign language students could do more harm than good. many teachers neglect to take account of the complexity involved in learning a second or foreign language and often wonder why learning of a language take so long. this study investigated the use of an innovative assessment, dynamic assessment (da),with efl learners in iran .it described in detail how the researcher will utilize this kind of assessment to measure and train efl students reading skills through use of mediation .in contrast to static assessments, in which correct responses result from learners’ current ability at specific moment, dynamic assessment focuses on the learners’ errors which are studied in terms of the learners ‘ ongoing development and learning through the use of mediation to promote growth.
